• dj Tiga biography

Born in Montreal Canada and grew up with 80s Indian club. In the 90s, back to Montreal, started giving his own parties featuring whores and gamblers, street dancers, rival gangs of acrobats and Dj guests. In 1993 he created “Solstice” the first official Canada rave party. Tiga really workd hard in building events such “Orb Live” and “Pure” by Jean-Ther. In 1994 Tiga bought a little thing called DNA Records and created the first Canadian music boutique in which discovering the ultimate electronic stuff to complete Djs collection and going beyond charts music. In 1998 Tiga started his own label called Turbo Records which produced more than 20 albums and got distribution by Prime, Intergroove and Caroline producing works like Peter Benisch’s “Soundtrack Saga,” Christopher Handlebar’s “To a Time of Asia” and Tiga’s own “Mixed Emotions” and “American Gigolo”. High pressure started having negative effects on Tiga, histerically attacking a photographer at a fashion meeting a year later. A little later, after having taken care of himself, he enterd the studio with producer Hulkkonen and started working on something different, something he said being a way he was displaying electronic music at the time. “Sunglasses at Night” was a smash hit and quickly got the most positive critics and the biggest success he ever had. The fame he got, put him into Dj world and brought him remix demands by artists like Martini Bros., Alpinestars, Linda Lamb, Crossover, FC Kahuna, Cabaret Voltaire, Telepopmusik, Felix da Housecat, Fischerspooner, FPU, The Devils (Nick Rhodes), and Danni Minogue. As a producer he also produced remixes for City Rockers, and singles for Turbo Recordings, Intec, Drumcode, and Electrix all under his TGV moniker, which is his collaborative effort with Mateo Murphy. 2003 was the year that Tiga released his mix CD on !K7 for their DJ Kicks series. His take on Nelly’s “Hot in Herre”, released for the DJ Kicks compilation, which had so much success it’s hard to believe a man could do all this stuff on his own. Latelly he remixed a lot more stuff like Alex Kidd’s “Come With Me”, Neon Judgement’s “TV Treated”, Scissor Sister’s cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb”, Junior Jack (feat. Robert Smith)’s “Da Hype”, and Peaches’ “Shake Yer Dix” and release a single “Pleasure From The Bass” which confirmed his infinite talent in producing and song writing.
